The second club 10 of the year for me on an amended course due to roadworks between the usual start and the entrance to the police headquarters. The start was moved to the entrance of the police HQ and the finish moved an according distance towards Ponteland to make it up to 10 miles.
The North East GHS event was held starting at 7pm, with their 18 riders preceding the club time trial. Off number 35 there was plenty of time for a warm up. With a fresh westerly wind (but not nearly as strong as 4 weeks previous) it was fairly quick from the start to Kirkley Hall and not too hard to Ogle. I caught Paddy Deane for a minute on the climb into Ogle and braced myself for a tough ride up to Belsay.
Making the turn onto the main road I had another rider in sight but he took a lot of catching! With a lot of help from the wind I managed to keep my momentum over the drags and had a strong finish. A power PB for the year by a small margin gave a finishing time of 24:10. It was a good time on the day and gave me second place in the club championship by just 3 seconds over Kyle Spence and 6 seconds over Russ Hughes.
