The previous week's Tyneside Vagabonds Club 10, whilst an excellent time, had been a little down on power. With confidence from recent racing, the plan for this week was to set out for a 300 watt average power output for the race.
A south south-easterly wind made for a fast start to Kirkley Hall and on up to Ogle, but was of little help up the lane towards Belsay. Nevertheless, my average speed to the turn was good, before a headwind finish took 30 seconds longer than my best time for the home leg.
Stopped the clock with 23:09, with an average power of 297 watts (302 watts normalised power), to take the club championship by 13 seconds from Russ. Pleased with the time and the power output - if only I could have found those extra 20 watts last week! Now placed well for the club short distance BAR but all still to play for.
