My first time trial was an evening club time trial organised by Reading Cycling Club on 5th May 1992 on the H10/1R course at Aldermaston in Berkshire, and I rode on my standard road bike with clip-on tri bars, finishing with a time of 25:14.
More than 25 years later, I've now taken part in a large number of races, totalling over 10,000 miles of time trialling alone.
It is not as easy as it was to be motivated enough to put in the training required to get good results, and age is not on my side, but in 2018 I shall be trying to see what I can achieve with the latest technology and aerodynamic knowledge. Sadly I shall never know what times I could have recorded with the fitness I had then and the knowledge and equipment I have now!
Over the years I've never ridden a fast 25 course on a fast day - many times on a fast course on a slow day, and occasionally a fast day on a slow course, but a combination of a fast day and a fast course has always proved elusive. For that reason my 25 mile PB was perhaps my weakest PB, and most achievable for this year.
